I surrender. I've given up on Lent. It should have been obvious this year would not go well when, on Ash Wednesday, the Lord sent a snowstorm, ensuring I would, instead of going to church, stay huddled inside my warm apartment. With a half-full keg of Stone pale ale on tap in my kitchen. Yeah, guess how that turned out.

The way I figure it, if I have yet to be industrious enough to wake up on Sunday morning and actually go to church, then the pretense of self-sacrifice becomes, well, a pretense. And now we have St. Patrick's Day upon us...

Oh well, there's always next year. In the meantime, I'll be raising my glass to Jesus this weekend. Cheers, God!
