Fab T-Birds Defy Logic

Ever have that experience where you suddenly realize that a song lyric you've merrily sung along with for years doesn't make any bloody sense?

Case in point -- this line from "Tuff Enuff" by The Fabulous Thunderbirds:

I would work 24 hours, seven days a week / Just so I could come home and kiss your cheek.

Well sure, now it's obvious what's wrong with it after I type it out. If he's working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, when would he ever be able to come home and kiss anyone's cheek? He'd be living at the office or the construction site or the coal mine or the gay bath house or whatever. For how many years and how many listens did this logical contradiction escape my piercing intellect?

On the other hand, the lyric as written could mean he works only 24 hours in any given seven-day week, in which case he would have plenty of time to come home and kiss cheeks. But then if that were the case, he wouldn't be very "tuff."

How provocative.
